Bangladesh Flying Academy & General Aviation holds the distinction of being the first Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Approved Training Organization (ATO), making it a pioneer in providing high-quality pilot training in Bangladesh. It was established in 1948.
Bangladesh Flying Academy has been a trailblazer in the field of pilot training, setting new standards of excellence. The academy takes pride in its impressive track record, having produced over 800 commercial pilots to date. In fact, approximately 90% of the pilots working for Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the national carrier, have received their training from BFA.
Courses Offer
Private Pilot’s Licensing (PPL)
PPL ground course in Dhaka at the academy classroom, duration 12 weeks. Flight training at Dhaka/Rajshahi for about 12-16 weeks to complete PPL. [50Hrs].
Commercial Pilot’s Licensing (CPL)
CPL ground course in Dhaka at the academy classroom, duration 16 weeks.
After successful completion of CPL ground course student will continue flight training at Dhaka and Rajshahi (Main) for 150 Hrs.
Flight Instructor’s Rating (F.I)
After completion of CPL:
1.Obtain Instructional Technique from CAAB
2.Flying requirement 30 hours.
Instrument Rating (IR)
Included in Commercial Pilot License [CPL]
License Conversion
a.Commercial Pilot License [CPL] with I.R.
b.Pass Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh’s [CAAB] following exams:
- Air Law
- Composite- Meteorology, Flight Plan, Navigation, Human Performance & Limitations
- Flying 5 to 6 hours including check.

Academic Qualification: H.S.C/ A-Levels or Equivalent (From Science with Math & Physics)
Age Limit: Minimum 16 years.
Selections: Selection board of the academy selects the student after a Written Exam and formal interview.
Medicals: Student pilots have to qualify for Class II medical.

- 30 hours duel flying
- 10 hours solo flying including 5 hours cross country
Instrument Rating

- 30 hours dual flying
Commercial Pilot License (CPL)
- Minimum 70 hours PIC flying
- Minimum 20 hours cross country flying
- Minimum 5 hours night flying
- Rest are GF flying

Requirement for Enrollment

- Minimum age of sixteen (16) years.
- Passed Class Ten or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
- Class 2 Medical Assessments.
- Adequate competency in the English language.

- Minimum age of seventeen (17) years.
- Passed Class Ten or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
- Class 2 Medical Assessments.
- Adequate competency in the English language.
Commercial Pilot Licensing (CPL)
- Minimum age of seventeen years (17) years on date of joining the course.
- Successful completion of Class 10 + 2 with Mathematics and Physics OR its equivalent. Candidates awaiting results may also apply and would be selected subject to clearing the 10 + 2 examinations.
- Pass medical examination (Class I) from a CAAB approved medical centre.
- Adequate competency in the English language.
